Open Arms offers the freedom and opportunity to explore these specific learning centers, designed for your child’s age and development.
Areas of Development
Art – access to materials and supplies stimulates curiosity and interest in creativity, fine motor skills and promotes positive self esteem.
Blocks and manipulative – any type of blocks combined with additional objects increases fine motor skills and cognitive development
Circle time – promotes the sense of belonging, this time is used for Bible stories and discussion, finger plays, singing favorite songs and sharing. They also learn the calendar, discuss the weather and become acquainted with having job responsibilities.
Dramatic play – props, clothing, and the imagination promote pretend and make believe.
Math – exploring, manipulating, organizing and experiencing will assist in the development of mathematical relationships.
Music – listening to music, playing instruments and singing creates an incredible environment and supports and promotes cognitive development.
Physical play – indoor and outdoor equipment supports gross motor development.
Reading and writing – developmentally appropriate books and writing materials in a quiet atmosphere will encourage literacy in even the youngest child.
Science – investigation, exploration and curiosity combined with hands-on experiments to promote cognitive development.
Sensory – providing children the opportunity to use their senses through all learning centers.
Spiritual Growth - Bible Story time including singing and sharing to help children develop a relationship with Christ. Weekly chapel time with the Pastor to help each child see themselves as a precious and loving child of the heavenly Father.
