Family Ministries

Pre-Marital Counseling and Marriage Counseling
We utilize Prepare and Enrich materials - proven for their accuracy and helpfulness. Currently the initial inventory costs $35.00. Usually the counseling sessions are four to five in number and last 1 hour each session. Call the church office to make your appointment with the pastor. Please make arrangements six months to one year in advance of the marriage date.

Adult Bible Study for Parents.
Do you have perfect kids? Do your children ever cause you problems? If so, then you now have a special place to discuss and learn parenting skills that help you bring your child to Christ. Bring your children to Sunday School this Sunday and attend Adult Bible Study for parents. Here we will discuss the lessons being taught in Sunday School to your children while finding ways to bring Christ into your parenting.

Sunday School Is For Everyone: Infants Through Adults
King of Kings offers Concordia Publishing House (CPH) Sunday school material for all ages. CPH is a unique approach to Sunday school material where every class - infant through adult - has the same Bible story as the basis for their lesson. In this way it is hoped the whole family has more of an opportunity to discuss the material throughout the week from one Sunday to the next. If you and your children would like to enroll in our Sunday school program please call our Sunday School Superintendent, Ms. Rachel Wehmeier, through the Church Office at 913-856-2500.

New Member Classes
We offer a class for everyone interested in joining King of Kings Lutheran Church. Basic Christian beliefs are explained. The classes meet on periodically throughout the year.  Please call the church office - 913-856-2500 for more information regarding future dates. Seasoned Lutherans and those new to the faith will benefit from the time spent reviewing and discussing basic Christian beliefs.

Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is offered every Summer. Our Vacation Bible School programs have been received well and we often enroll in excess of 100 children! There is always a lot to do, learn and make during the fun-filled week. Please check with the church office in the Spring (913-856-2500) about enrollment.

Early Communion
King of Kings Lutheran Church offers early communion prior to completing confirmation. Early communion is offered to any child currently in the fifth grade and older. Early communion classes are usually offered in the spring.

Confirmation at King of Kings
Confirmation is a two year program emphasizing Bible study along with understanding Christian doctrine according to the Small Catechism. Normally children start Jr. Confirmation when they are in the sixth grade. First year students study the emphasis on Bible History. Second year students study how Bible history relates to the six chief parts of the Christian faith.

Worship Ministries

Music Ministries: Adult Choir and Hand Bell Choir
We are very excited about the commitment of our members in our Music Ministry. The bell choir (King's Ringers) practice Wednesday nights at 6:00 PM until 7:10 PM. The adult vocal Choir (King's Singers) practice Wednesday nights at 7:15 PM until 8:15 PM. New members to each group are always welcome! Both choirs are directed by Kipp Willnauer.

Youth Handbell Choir is formed. Rehearsals begin at 5:30 PM on Wednesday evening and last 30 minutes. The emphasis will be on learning basic musical skills on handbells. We will establish a time schedule to play bells in worship.
